Swedish Based Finance company Okapi Partners with Kenya’s Eclectics International

If there is anything we live for at the moment, it has to be convenience. If there is a way we can get it at the click of a button to our house, we want it we want overdraft when we can’t buy stuff. We want to pay for everything online and we groan at pay points that do not accept cards.

In this essence, Swedish based financial company, Okapi has partnered with Eclectics payment gateway solution to ensure that the sweet feeling of convenience gets even better. Eclectics will now offer bulk SMS and airtime/bill payments to Okapi customers.

Speaking during the signing of the partnership, the Group CEO of Eclectics International Mr. Paul Mbugua said,” The partnership with Okapi goes a long way to reaching out to the bottom of the pyramid by enabling them to do cashless transaction across their own ecosystem as well as be able to remit money across between themselves person to person, person to business, business to person. This relationship for the for me is a big one because it will enable us to scale beyond what we have been doing in the past which is business to business in the past”.

After the partnership, customers to both Okapi and Eclectics will have access to pay or buy for as many as 30 services. These ranges from TV subscription, NHIF payments, rent, parking, airtime and even water payments. Apart from day to day payments, Okapi users can also transfer funds and manage insurance premiums between Okapi and visa, visa and Okapi and Okapi and Mpesa. This means you can settle all your bills from the comfort of your home or office, all at the click of a button.

According to Gisele Mwepu, the group CEO of Okapi finance, the move is set to increase financial inclusion in the all the countries the company operates in. The company aims at reaching 145M users in the next 10 years. After launching in Kenya in august 2017, the country has managed to set up shop in Nigeria and Botswana. This year, Okapi plans to extend its services in Senegal, DRC and Zimbabwe. In its countries of operation, Okapi sets its sights on partnerships that will aid its quest in becoming the financial actor connecting the whole of Africa.

Okapi services are available via authorized agents, their website or the app which is available for both android and iOS.
